Welcome into the serious games world to increase social competence of children and youth

Social competence is related positively with building and maintaining of positive social relations – intimate and professional. Social competence is positively connected with the development of pro-social behaviors and the restriction of destructive behaviors. It is linked positively with academic ability and success in learning.

Social competence refers to the social, emotional, cognitive skills and behaviors that children need for successful social adaptation. Social competence is an elusive concept, because the skills and behaviors required for healthy social development vary with the age of the child and with the demands of particular situations.

Serious games are simulations of real-world events or processes designed for the purpose of solving a problem. Although serious games can be entertaining, their main purpose is to train or educate users. Serious games are aimed for a large variety of audiences, including primary or secondary education, professionals and consumers.
